Our Mission

At Flattered, each decision we make embodies our ethos, which springs from a desire to be a responsible, dynamic, and honest brand. We want to drive positive change in our industry by making products that last longer, thus honouring the authenticity and craftsmanship behind each one of them. We also constantly strive to offer our customers the choice to invest in products that contain materials or have undergone processes proven to be better for the environment.

We realise we have a long way to go and face new challenges daily, but our commitment to being a responsible brand still needs to be made public. It begins with the close relationship we've developed with our suppliers. Knowing how and why choices have been made from start to finish is essential to us. We are transparent about every aspect involved in making our products.

Our primary goal is to minimise climate and environmental impact by maximising usage, which we aim to achieve by employing materials that both last long and are produced responsibly.

If we can double the lifespan of our products, we will reduce the negative climate effects of production by almost 50%.

Design

Design

Design is about embracing simplicity and creating timeless items that endure beyond seasonal trends. Our design department adopts a mindset of quality from concept to execution of the final product. We encourage our customers to invest in products that can become a part of their permanent wardrobe and be used repeatedly to offset their environmental impact. This perspective on conscious consumption, hand in hand with timeless design and exemplary craftsmanship, can make a difference in the habits of not just our customers but our industry as a whole.

Materials

Materials

While continuously evaluating new materials and techniques for Flattered, we today believe in leather as a natural and strong material that can withstand time over artificial leathers. All leathers we use in our products are bi-product leathers from other industries. By sourcing the best possible leathers — certified by the Leather Working Group (LWG)

— for our shoes, bags, and accessories, we ensure our materials stem from environ- mental best practices and performance in all areas of leather production, including chemical and water management, energy use, greenhouse gas emissions, waste management and hide traceability.

When it’s possible, we aim to use leather that is chrome free. Still, we value a suitable certificate from LWG more than focusing only on chrome since a good certification means that the tannery has good overall waste and water management, not only for chrome. Nevertheless, 50% of our leather is chrome free since we only use chrome-free leather as our lining.

For 2024, 100% of all our leathers come from partners that are either audited or members of LWG, and 65% of those leathers are from partners that are either silver or gold-rated by the same organisation. We are working to increase this percentage seasonally.

Our factories

Our factories

Our Flattered factories are proudly family-run businesses deeply dedicated to premium quality and unwavering values. They are all chosen for their exceptional craftsmanship. The fusion of time-honoured manufacturing techniques with our steadfast commitment to environmental responsibility and contemporary design concepts empowers us to advance and enrich our brand's excellence and innovation continuously.

Our shoe production facilities are situated in Elda and Elche in Spain and Porto, Portugal. Meanwhile, our exquisite bags and small leather goods are meticulously crafted in a factory located in Montesilvano, Italy. We maintain a close-knit partnership with all our factories, engaging in near-daily communication to ensure our products consistently meet our high standards.

All our factories have signed our Code of Conduct based on the UN Global Compact's ten principles covering the following four main areas: human rights, labour conditions, the environment, and anti-corruption. Another good thing about our production is that 60% of our products are sourced from factories that run mainly on solar power.

The Product Lifecycle

The Product Lifecycle

It all starts at the drawing table. Our design embraces simplicity and creates timeless items that endure beyond seasonal trends. We adopt a mindset of quality from concept to execution of the final product. As a result, we encourage our customers to invest in products that can become a part of their permanent wardrobe and be used repeatedly to offset their environmental impact. This perspective on conscious consumption, hand in hand with timeless design and exemplary craftsmanship, can make a difference in the habits of not just our customers but our industry as a whole.

An essential part of creating long-lasting relationships with our products is to take care of them by regularly cleaning, protecting, and maintaining them. Therefore, together with Attirecare, we have developed a selection of specialised products designed to help care for the care made from organic ingredients. Formulas are environmentally friendly, ethically made, and biodegradable.

As a final step in the product lifecycle, we have teamed up with Sellpy to offer an avenue to resell or recycle used Flattered products.

Packaging

Packaging

Beautiful packing is an essential part of a luxury experience. The most beautiful packing, in our eyes, gives the customer a wonderful unpacking experience and, at the same time, leaves a minimal environmental footprint. Therefore, we have developed packaging that looks flawless and is as environmentally friendly as possible. The boxes are certified by FSC, which ensures the paper comes from certified forests or derives from post-consumer waste, and we use a large portion of recycled materials. The boxes can be transported folded, and we have reduced the glue and paint to a minimum and only used solvent-free ink. Furthermore, since the end of 2022, we have succeeded in excluding all plastic in our packaging. See the table below.
